The trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, The Kerala Story 2, has come under intense scrutiny, particularly from the Malayalam community, including Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Recent reports indicate that Sridev Namboothiri, a resident of Chittariparamba in Kannur, has taken legal action against the film, filing a petition that raises serious concerns about its portrayal of Kerala.

According to ANI, the High Court has since issued a notice to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), demanding a response from the film's producers, Sunshine Pictures. The case is set to return to court on February 24, just three days before the film's scheduled release on February 27.

Namboothiri’s petition argues that The Kerala Story 2 unfairly depicts the state and incites ‘communal and regional disharmony’, potentially leading to wider social unrest. Furthermore, the petition challenges the certification granted to the film, suggesting the CBFC did not adequately consider its impact on ‘public order, decency and morality’, as mandated by law.
