Four Ports Under Construction in Andhra Pradesh, Centre Informs Lok Sabha

New Delhi: The Central government has informed the Lok Sabha that four ports are currently under construction in Andhra Pradesh as part of efforts to strengthen maritime infrastructure and enhance trade capacity.

Government Statement in Lok Sabha

Responding to a question in the House, the Centre stated that the port projects are aimed at increasing cargo handling capacity, improving logistics efficiency and supporting industrial development along the state’s coastline.

Boost to Coastal Economy

Andhra Pradesh, with its extensive coastline along the Bay of Bengal, plays a crucial role in India’s maritime economy. The development of additional ports is expected to promote exports, reduce transportation costs and create employment opportunities in coastal districts.

The government noted that the four ports are at different stages of construction. Their timely completion will depend on environmental clearances, land acquisition processes and financial approvals.
